A tribute to the gypsy music in the world

This music was made popular by Romanians and Ungarish gypsies all over Europe during their wanderings. It's an overwhelming music; its strenght lies not only in its debording lyricism but also in its euphoric restlessness. It's a music that plays for the community rites (marriages, engagements, propitiatory rites, celebrations).

Fabrizio Meloni - clarinet

Emiliano Rodriguez - saxophones

Michele Francesconi - piano

Roberto Bartoli - doublebass

“E Bairav Ensemble plays balkan's popular music in a very personal way. This music was made popular by Romanians and Ungarish gypsies all over Europe during their wanderings. It's an overwhelming music; its strenght lies not only in its debording lyricism but also in its euphoric restlessness. It's a music that plays for the community rites (marriages, propitiatory rites, celebrations). E Bairav Ensemble proposes compositions coming from traditional balkan music composers as Balazs, Csoka, Layos, Dinicu and unknown composers. This compositions belong to an original and rare unpublished repertoire. They play following a style, which links together the individual backgrounds to the tzigana praxis, characterized by "rubato" and "glissando" , a vigorous lyrism, a typical rithmic impulse and frequent and unexpeted dynamic changes. E Bairav Ensemble has partecipated to many festivals gaining enthusiatic appreciations among critics and audiences. It has recently released the CD "Pulcherrima Ignota - A Tribute to the gypsy music in the world”. Since 2005 this group has started a collaboration with “I Virtuosi Italiani” Orchestra. They released together the CD “La Musica del Vento” with original arrangements and new compositions. From 2010 “E Bairàv Ensemble” is working to a new project named “Around Bartok”. This is a new reading of some compositions of the great hungarian musician, revisited not only with great respect for the original score, but also with the clear and overflowing curiosity to use the original materials as a starting point from from which to begin to explore new territories.
